LOS ANGELES (AP) — Howard W. Koch, a veteran producer and director whose credits include "The Manchurian Candidate" and the TV series "The Maverick," has died of complications from Alzheimer's disease. He was 84.
Koch, one-time president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and former head of production at Paramount Pictures, died Friday.
He was still on staff as a producer at Paramount at the time of his death.
Along with producing "The Manchurian Candidate" in 1962 and directing "Maverick," Koch also was responsible for such feature films as "Andy Hardy Comes Home" and "Bop Girl Goes Calypso" and the successful TV series "The Untouchables."
