Carl Craig Himes, 42, was killed in an automobile accident near Clay Springs, AZ. on Thursday, Feb 1.
He was the son of Hal and Marjorie Buck Himes of Brig-ham City, UT. He was the grandson of Fraser and Myrtle Buck and Charles and Mary Himes, all long time residents of Park City, UT.
Carl was born on
September 10, 1958 in Van Nuys, CA and grew to manhood in Redlands, CA. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission to Argentina for his church. During his mission he served as District Leader, Zone Leader, and Branch President.
After completing his missionary service, Carl attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, where he received Bachelors and Masters degrees in Psychology. He continued his graduate studies completing all of his class requirements for a Doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and completed his two year internship in Fort Collins, Colorado, before moving his family to Eagar, Arizona.
Carl married Jennifer Hammond in the Los Angeles Temple on December 28, 1982. They were later divorced. He married Dee Green on March 24, 1998 in St. Johns, AZ.
Carl is survived by his wife, Dee of St. Johns, AZ; five children, Cameron, Whitney, Danielle, and Donovan Himes of Eager, AZ, and David Himes of St. Johns, AZ; four stepchildren, Michelle Johnson Moore of Phoenix, AZ, Hannah Green, Benjamin Green, and Sarah Green of St. Johns, AZ; and one grandson, Christopher Moore of Phoenix, AZ.
Carl is also survived by his parents, Hal and Marjorie Himes; one sister, Patricia (Doxey) Eaton of Colton, CA; and two brothers, Douglas (Tina) of Seymour, MO; and Bret (Sharon) of Brigham City, Utah.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 8th, at the St. Johns LDS Stake Center in St. Johns, AZ. Pallbearers were Douglas and Bret Himes, Jeff and Tim Rabin, Ray, Averett, and Russ Skousen. Interment was at the St. Johns Westside Cemetery in St. Johns, AZ, following the funeral
services.
At the time of his death, Carl was employed as teacher, counselor, and athletic director at the Renaissance Heber High School in Heber, Arizona.
