Clyde Dillingham Martak, 90, passed away Feb 26, 2001 at Alta View Hospital in Sandy, Utah.

Born Feb 25, 1911 in Eastport, MD to Adam Elwood Martak and Estelle Mabel Suit. Married Melva Crook Dec 28, 1946 in Salt Lake City, UT; later divorced. Married Ingeborg Johanna (Inge) Rodl, Mar 15, 1965 in Denver, CO. He retired as a Master Sergeant from Army Intelligence, and later the Post Office. He was an avid marathon runner while in his twenties. He was the U.S. Marathon Champion in 1932 and is listed in the Encyclopedia of Sports.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ingeborg Johanna (Inge) Rodl, who died Aug 24, 1996 in Greenville, SC, and a son, Walter Ray (Marty) Martak, who died Feb 15, 1998 in Price, UT. He is survived by his children, Cheryl Garrison, Barry Martak, Marva Papanikolas, Laurance (Larry) Martak, all of Salt Lake City; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grand-children; a sister, Lillian Alleen Leonard; brothers, Elwood Boykin Martak, Jesse William Martak; Charles Adam Martak; and his special "Wendover friend," Scarlett Muir.

At his request, there will be no funeral or memorial services. We would like to acknowledge and give a special thanks to Cracker Barrel Restaurant, Linda, his nurse at Pioneer Hospital, the Crosslands Nursing Home, and to all the fantastic ICU nurses at Alta View Hospital who gave so much loving care and support.
