NEW YORK — President Paula Lambert of the International Association of Culinary Professionals has announced finalists for this year's IACP Cookbook Awards.

More than 300 food and beverage books copyrighted and published in English during the 2000 calendar year were entered in the awards program.

A jury of 33 culinary professionals chose the list of finalists, with three finalists announced for each of 11 categories.

One of the category winners will also be named the "Best Cookbook of the Year."

Finalists for the First Book category, the Julia Child Award, are: "Cracking the Coconut" by Su-Mei Yu (William Morrow, $30); "The Japanese Kitchen" by Hiroko Shimbo (Harvard Common Press, $29.95); and "Wildwood: Cooking From the Source in the Pacific Northwest" by Cory Schreiber (Ten Speed Press, $39.95).
