Utah ski pioneer Sverre Engen, age 90, of Salt Lake City died 4 April 2001 of causes related to age.
He was born 28 January 1911 in Norway to Trond and Martha Engen. He emigrated to the United States in 1929. Married Lois Forbes Mitchell in Anaconda, Montana in 1937. She preceded him in death in 2000.
Sverre is survived by his son, Scott Engen, daughter-in-law Marcie Keck, his younger brother Corey (Norma) Engen of Lindon, Utah, sister-in-law Evelyn Engen, of Salt Lake City, Utah, nephews Alan (Barbara), Jon (Sarah), and David (Kathy) Engen, and niece Carol (Gary) Beus. He was also preceded in death by his older brother, Alf.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 10600 South 1700 East in Sandy, where friends and family may call one hour prior to the services.
