ATLANTA — Cindy Parlow scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 80th minute, as the Atlanta Beat defeated the San Diego Spirit 3-2 Sunday.

Parlow's second goal, a header off a crossing pass from Nikki Serlenga, snapped a 2-all tie and gave Atlanta its second straight win.

Parlow also received the first red card in league history. She was issued a red card in the 90th minute for retaliating for a push from San Diego's Julie Foudy. Parlow swung her elbow and hit Foudy in the mouth.

Parlow will sit out Atlanta's game at Carolina on June 24 for the card.

"I was just trying to get her off me," said Parlow. "I wasn't trying to hit her in the mouth. That was the second time in the span of about five seconds that she had tried to hurt someone."

Foudy received a yellow card for a push moments before the exchange with Parlow, which punctuated a physical match.

"It was ugly," San Diego coach Carlos Juarez said. "That wasn't a soccer game. It was a ping-pong WWF match."

Kerry Gragg pushed past defender Margaret Tietjen and beat Spirit keeper Jamie Pagliarulo with a shot to the lower right corner of the net in the third minute, giving Atlanta an early lead.

Shannon MacMillan scored on a free kick from 35 yards out in the 13th minute for San Diego, and the Spirit took 2-1 lead when Fan Yunjie scored on a header off a corner kick by MacMillan in the 39th minute.

Parlow tied the game at 2 with a goal in the 42nd minute when she headed a corner kick by Kylie Bivens into the upper left corner of the net.

CYBERRAYS 2, COURAGE 0: At San Jose, Calif., LaKeysia Beene earned her third consecutive shutout as the Bay Area CyberRays beat the Carolina Courage 2-0 in the WUSA on Sunday.

Julie Murray scored in the 43rd minute and Tisha Venturini added a goal in the 89th minute as the CyberRays (3-4-2) extended their unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1).

Beene, who has allowed just one goal in her last four games, preserved her third shutout of the season in the 57th minute with a leaping deflection of a shot by Staci Burt.

POWER 2, CHARGE 1: At Uniondale, N.Y., Tiffeny Milbrett scored two goals to lead the New York Power to a 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Charge in the WUSA on Sunday.

Milbrett scored on a free kick in the 15th minute after Philadelphia's Mandy Clemens was called for a foul and then received a yellow card.

Milbrett took the free kick after teammate Sara Whalen first faked the touch. She scored with a shot just inside the post past goalkeeper Saskia Webber.

Milbrett was credited with the Power's second goal in the 25th minute. A shot from the top of the box by Jen Lalor deflected off Milbrett's left hip and past Webber. Milbrett leads the WUSA with seven goals.
