Mell Chambers Meikle passed away 3 July 2001, in the Logan Regional Hospital.
Born 27 January 1913 to Alfred Bence and Mary Ann Fishburn Chambers, she was raised and educated in Smithfield. She was married to Keith Henry Meikle on 10 Feb. 1930 and sealed on 8 June 1932 in the Logan LDS Temple. An active member of the LDS Church, she served in several capacities. Mell was a devoted mother and grandmother, a compassionate neighbor, an immaculate housekeeper, and a wonderful cook. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Renna (Adios) Gubler; brothers, Alfred W. Fishburn and Seth Chambers; sisters, Alta C. Allen and Ada Mae Chambers. She is survived by sons, Ralph K. (Marlene) Smithfield; Dr. A. Wayne (Sharon), Salt Lake City; and Jon C. (Marsha) Meikle, Smithfield; daughter, SusAnn (Brian) Clift, Newhall, CA; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Noble L. Chambers and sisters, Laura C. Hansen; and Mary C. Mather also survive.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Saturday, 7 July 2001 in the Smithfield 15th Ward (600 East 120 South). Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the Nelson
Funeral Home, 85 South, Main, Smithfield, and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Smithfield Cemetery.
