OGDEN — A fire totally destroyed Lincoln Elementary early Sunday morning.
The 2:49 a.m. fire is believed to be human-caused, said Matt Schwenk, Ogden city fire marshal. "Ignitable liquid" was poured in several areas outside the school, 1245 N. Canfield.
Crews spent 4 1/2 hours fighting the blaze and another eight hours snuffing out hot spots, Schwenk said.
Damage is estimated at $6 million, he said.
Students were to start school Wednesday, Ogden School District spokeswoman Debbie Hefner said.
School officials plan to move portable buildings from Weber School District, as well as portables from Lincoln not destroyed by the fire, and set them nearby Edison Elementary and hold school there. About 400 students attend Lincoln, Hefner said.
Staff, faculty and parents are planning to meet Monday to discuss specifics.
