Financial services firm Morgan Stanley said Friday it plans to move its downtown headquarters, currently at 175 S. Main, into the new One Gateway office building under construction on the corner of 100 South and 400 West once it's completed.

The building is part of the $375 million Gateway development being constructed by The Boyer Co. west of downtown. The complex is scheduled to open Nov. 1.

Morgan Stanley will occupy 5,000 square feet of ground-level retail space in the new building and will take 8,000 square feet of space on the third level, said Jake Boyer, project manager, who termed the lease "a major accomplishment for us."

The firm will have a stock ticker and a video screen on the exterior of the building, providing market updates and financial news for passersby.

Elyssa Baltazaar, managing partner of the Salt Lake Morgan Stanley office, said The Gateway will be a vibrant center for business in Salt Lake "and we plan to take advantage of that with our new location."
