Keene Holbrook Curtis died Oct. 13, 2002 of complications related to Alzheimer's disease.
Born in Salt Lake City, Feb. 15, 1923 to Ira Charles Curtis and Polley Holbrook Curtis. Raised in Bountiful, Utah. Graduated from Davis High School. Joined the Navy during World War II and served in the Pacific. Received both bachelor and masters degrees from the University the latter in 1951. Stage manager for Martha Graham and Katherine Cornell for many years. Later turned to acting, culminating in a Tony Award in 1971 for his performance of four separate parts in the Rothschilds. Appeared in more than 90 film and television productions including Cheers, MASH, Touched by an Angel, Missiles of
October, and many more. Traveled extensively and enjoyed many friendships throughout the world. Received a Distinguished Service Award from the University of Utah in 1973. Donated his papers and awards to the University of Utah in 2000.
His immediate family, including his brother Hal H. Curtis, preceded him in death. His extended family, who remain, love and admire him greatly and have been at his side throughout his final struggles.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 19, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, where friends may call Friday evening from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
