Victor Kelson Cummings passed away October 19, 2002, with his loving family and in the loving care of the nurses, doctors, and staff at Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital.
He was born September 30, 1920, to Victor Clyde Cummings and Arline Aimee Kelson. He attended public schools in Salt Lake City, Utah, graduating from East High. After serving an LDS mission to Eastern Canada, he attended the University of Utah where he graduated in accounting. It was there that he met and fell in love with LaRee Lake Cummings, the love of his life. They were married August 8, 1944. Continuing his education he received a law degree from the University of Utah and a tax law masters degree from New York University.
Vic was successful in all he did. He was the youngest person to pass the CPA exam in Utah. Recently he received the award of being the oldest practicing CPA in Utah. He was in the honor society Phi Kappa Phi. He retired from Coopers and Lybrand Accounting firm where he served with integrity and honesty for 19 years. He was involved in many professional, civic, and church duties.
Vic and LaRee were called on a leadership mission to the Salt Lake Liberty Stake where they provided love, leadership, and strength to the wonderful people of the Jackson Apartments.
Vic and LaRee enjoyed their long standing friendship with the 22 Dinner Group. This association of friends started back in the college years and is still continuing.
Vic was proud of his family and he and LaRee supported them in all they did. We as children will remember the Brighton Cabin, his photographs of scenery, and his willingness to help us at all times. He and mom loved elegant jewelry, Royal Dalton dolls, and beautiful china.
He is survived by his five children, Daniel (Virginia) Cummings, Vicki (Marinus) Baadsgaard, Corey (Sandy) Cummings, Val (Michelle) Cummings and Brent (Kai) Cummings, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grand-children, a brother C. Kay Cummings, a sister Joyce (Dee) Swainston and sister-in-law Marion Cummings. He is preceded in death by his wife LaRee, his parents, two sisters, Doris and Bonnie, and one brother, Paul.
