OGDEN — Weber State University will host the seventh annual Storytelling Festival Monday through Wednesday, Nov. 11-13, in the Ogden Eccles Conference Center and Peery's Egyptian Theater, 2415 Washington Blvd., from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. each day.

Five nationally known storytellers will participate, including Charlotte Blake Alston, Milbre Burch, Willy Claflin, Peter Cook and Syd Lieberman. Cook, who is a deaf poet and storyteller, uses American Sign Language, gestures and movement to bridge the gap between the deaf and hearing worlds.

Almost 80 student storytellers from Weber, Davis, Morgan and Ogden school districts will perform at the festival, along with 34 local and regional storytellers. The festival is the only one in the nation sponsored by a university in conjunction with local school districts. Admission to all events is $30 for adults, $20 for senior citizens or students, and $10 for children. Daytime passes are $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens or students, and $3 for children. Evening passes are $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens or students, and $3 for children. A free public event at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, will feature Lieberman in a presentation of the award-winning story, "One Righteous Man: The Story of Raoul Wallenberg." Wallenberg was credited with saving the lives of numerous Jews during World War II, one of whom was Lieberman's great-aunt, Helen Yacobovitch.
