Country singer Moe Bandy is recovering from triple bypass surgery after suffering a mild heart attack.
Bandy, 58, was at home after a show Saturday night when he began experiencing chest pains, spokeswoman Juanita Adams said. He was taken to a hospital in Branson, Mo., where he underwent the surgery early Sunday morning.
He's expected to be released by the end of the week, Adams said Monday.
Bandy canceled his remaining five shows of the season at his Branson theater.
His last hit, "Americana," released in 1988, became former President George Bush's campaign song. Bandy played at Bush's inauguration and appeared twice at the White House in 1989.
He opened his Moe Bandy Americana Theatre in Branson in 1991.
Bandy's other hits, mostly released in the 1970s, include "I Just Started Hatin' Cheatin' Songs Today," "It Was Always So Easy To Find An Unhappy Woman (Till I Started Lookin' For Mine)" and "Bandy the Rodeo Clown."
