GREENSBORO, N.C. — A woman was charged with murder Sunday in connection with an apartment complex fire that killed four people and injured six, authorities said.
The fire broke out early Friday at the apartment building near the University of North Carolina at Greensboro campus.
Janet Louise Danahey, 23, of Greensboro, was charged with one count of first-degree murder in the death of Rachel Dawn Llewellyn, a nursing student, said police said.
Additional charges were awaiting positive identification of the other three victims.
Three of the dead were residents of the building and the fourth was a visitor, said fire battalion chief David Douglas.
Officials would not release a motive or other details about the arrest.
Danahey was held without bail.
Douglas said police and fire investigators would meet this week before releasing their conclusion about where and how the fire may have started.
