LAUREL, Md. — A man was beaten to death in front of his 4-year-old daughter during a fight set off by a bumper falling from his car, police said.

No arrests had been made, Prince George's County police said Monday.

The victim, Martin N. McWilliams, 32, of Laurel, was pulling out of the parking lot of his apartment building on Sunday with his daughter and her three cousins when his car's rear bumper dropped into the path of another car, police said.

According to witnesses, McWilliams and the other driver got out of their cars, and a "verbal argument escalated to a physical confrontation," said homicide detective Kerry W. Jernigan.
