UT <! > - Howard V. Hatch, 74 of Panguitch, Utah, passed away April 22, 2002 in Panguitch.
He was born Jan. 31, 1928 in Panguitch to Meltiar V. and Ella Cleo Veater Hatch.
He married Mamie Dodds on August 13, 1946 in Fredonia, AZ. The marriage was solemnized on May 17, 1948 in the St. George LDS Temple.
He was an active member of the LDS Church having served as a Elders Quorum president; Sunday School president; and was currently serving as a High Priest in the Panguitch 2nd Ward.
He was a prominent livestock rancher and took great pride in the cattle and sheep he owned. He served many years on the Board of Directors of the Utah Wool Marketing Association and was on the board of the West Panguitch Irrigation Company for 38 years. He was a member of the Utah Wool Growers Association and the Utah Cattlemen's Association.
He was a great horseman who loved good horses. He owned the last range sheep operation in Garfield County. He has passed his love for the land and livestock on to his family who now are the 5th generation on the family ranch.
He is survived by his wife of Panguitch; children, Thomas V. (Kay) Hatch, Ira Ronald (Julie) Hatch, Arthur Randall (Debbie) Hatch, Collette (Martin) Nay, David Paul (Shawna) Hatch all of Panguitch; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Ina (Bob) Hanks of Panguitch; Ira Wallace (Elaine) Hatch of Huntington; Arthur A. (Arlene) Hatch of St. George; David W. (LaVera) Hatch of Cedar City; Janet V. (Larry) Leatham of Ogden; brother-in-law: Jim Yardley; sisters-in-law: Caryl Englestead, Janice Hatch all of Panguitch. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Howard Dennis Hatch; sister, Alta Hatch Yardley; brothers, Harold Carl Hatch and James H. "Tink" Hatch.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. in the Panguitch 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 200 North 400 East, Panguitch where friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and again at the church on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Panguitch Cemetery.
