WASHINGTON — Mary Tyler Moore, international chairwoman of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, has presented Sen. Orrin G. Hatch, R-Utah, with the Congressional Leadership Award for his "exceptional commitment" to helping increase juvenile diabetes research funding and support stem cell research.

Hatch was recognized at his office as part of the foundation's annual conference in Washington.

The group is the world's leading nonprofit, nongovernmental funder of diabetes research and was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with juvenile diabetes.
