Daniel Ray (Gunderson) Tolman 75, died peacefully in his sleep at his Sandy, Utah home on May 5, 2002 of natural causes.

Dan was born on January 8, 1927 in Sandy, Utah. He was raised mostly in the Sandy area by his parents Perry and Delores Aletta Tolman. Following his father's death in 1946, his mother remarried his stepfather Lafayette Percell Alvey. Dan was the oldest of four children and grew up surrounded by cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

Dan excelled in electronics and in addition to graduating from Jordan High School, attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago receiving a diploma in Radio Electronics. In 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served on active duty in Europe until 1952. Dan served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California from 1955-57. He was instrumental in the baptisms of his future bride, Wanda Reines and her family. On January 8, 1958 Dan and Wanda were married in the Los Angeles Temple. He was a devoted husband, caring for and serving his wife until her death in 1982.

Dan worked as an electrician in the maintenance department of the Jordan School District for 29 years retiring in 1995. Dan loved model airplanes, cameras, music, audio visual equipment, and anything electronic.

One of the highlights of Dan's later years was acquainting himself with members of his birth father's family, the Gundersons, and becoming a part of their lives. At the time of his passing, Dan was enjoying retirement by visiting with longtime friends, tinkering in his computer room, spending time with his little buddy Josh, and working on the great legacy he left for his family in the many scrapbooks, photo albums, and histories he compiled.

Dan is survived by his brother Marlon Tolman of Kaysville; his sister Patsy Mortensen (Harvey) of Kaysville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife Wanda, his parents, and his brother Blaine.
