New Buddhist monks, nuns to be ordained

LAYTON — Ordination ceremonies of new monks and nuns will be held at the Wat Dhammagunaram Buddhist Temple and Meditation Center, 644 E. 1000 North tonight at 8:30.

The event is part of the tradition of "Buddhist Lent" in Thailand, the season when many young men are ordained as novice monks.

The event includes a food fair and classical Thai dance, and there will also be opportunities for interested individuals to study and practice meditation this summer under the guidance of venerable monks and meditation masters.
