LOS ANGELES — How's this for a high-powered cameo? Steven Spielberg, Tom Cruise and Gwyneth Paltrow team up for a quick guest appearance in "Austin Powers in Goldmember," the third in Mike Myers' spy-spoof series.

In interviews for their upcoming sci-fi collaboration "Minority Report," Spielberg and Cruise said they pop up briefly in the espionage comedy that hits theaters next month.

Spielberg, who is friends with Myers, said the actor brought a scene over for him to read, saying, "I hate to ask you, but would you read this and tell if you'd be interested?"

"I read it and thought it was hysterical," Spielberg said Monday. "I normally wouldn't say yes, but Mike's a very close friend of mine, and the scene was really funny. So he also had written a part for Gwyneth Paltrow, who's like one of my kids.. . . . I sent the pages to Tom and Gwynnie and they both agreed to do it."

Cruise said it was only a few hours of shooting that turned out to be "a blast."
