1929 ~ 2003

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, Helen Jeanne Jones Jeppsen, 74, of Bountiful, returned to her Heavenly Father on October 15, 2003.

She was born June 2, 1929 to Samuel J. and Rhoda McCullough Jones. She was the youngest of seven children. Helen grew up in Provo, Utah attending Provo High School where she excelled in music. She attended Brigham Young University where she was first violin in the BYU Symphony Orchestra. During the summers, Helen had the wonderful opportunity of studying music at the Juilliard School in New York City and serving as a secretary to Senator Wallace F. Bennett in Washington, D.C. After graduating from BYU with a music degree and a teaching certificate, Helen married Jay Norman Jeppsen in 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were married for 51 years. They were blessed with five children, 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Helen lived a vital, productive life. She will always be remembered for her dedicated service, kindness, compassion, creativity, sense of humor, optimism, determination, and endurance. She championed the cause of the mentally disabled, serving on the Governor's Council for the disabled and also on the board of the MRAU. Helen was an active member of the LDS Church serving in many organizations, including Relief Society president in her ward. Her children and grandchildren especially appreciate her love of family and making every holiday a fun event. In recent years, Helen taught all those around her how to meet difficult challenges with grace and nobility.

She is survived by her husband, and her children - Pam (Bob) Wing, Jody (Bob) Griffiths, Paul (Gina) Jeppsen, David Jeppsen and Michelle Ables; and her sister, Marion Harris of Mesa, Arizona.
