The Tree Room at Sundance in Provo is a first-time Four Diamond-winning restaurant in Utah. It joins The Glitretind in Park City, La Caille Restaurant and the Metropolitan in Salt Lake City as this year's winning Utah restaurants. The Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City and the Sorrel River Ranch in Moab are new lodging winners of AAA's prestigious Four Diamond Award. The award is bestowed each year on a tiny fraction of hotels, resorts and restaurants.

Established 100 years ago, AAA offers a wide array of automotive, travel, insurance and financial services. AAA Utah serves more than 120,000 members. The rating system of one to five diamonds helps members know what to expect from restaurants and lodgings based on how they meet exacting qualifications, according to Rolayne Fairclough, AAA Utah spokeswoman.
Perkins Cafe and Bakery at the International Center has hired Angela Child as assistant manager. Child previously worked as director of food services at the College of Eastern Utah. Perkins, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, is attached to the Airport Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites at 230 N. Admiral Byrd Road.
Easy Street Brasserie, which opened in Park City before the flap with France over Iraq, is throwing a few tongue-in-cheek barbs at the French. "French, without all the France," was the restaurant's original slogan, referring to French cuisine without a "nose-in-the-air" attitude. Now the restaurant's ads sport headlines like "We're so French, we hate ourselves" and "Pardon our French, but they came with the restaurant."
"Evening of Elegance" fund-raiser for multiple sclerosis takes place 6:30 p.m., April 26, at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort. Minimum suggested donation is $150 per person for the five-course meal, cooked by chefs Joseph Keller of the Bouchon restaurant in Napa Valley, Todd Gardiner, Mickey McPhail and Mikel Trapp of Snowbird, Adam Kriesel of the Globe by Moonlight and Steven Rosenberg of Liberty Heights Fresh in Salt Lake City. Deseret Edge Brewery's The Pub at Trolley Square is offering new daily lunch specials priced under $8, including grilled salmon salad, almond-crusted red trout and chipotle-braised beef short ribs. The lunch specials are also available through dinner service. The Pub has evolved its menu from the four different sandwiches served when it opened 30 years ago.
Chef & the Child dinner and auction takes place 6 p.m., April 12, at the Delta Center's International Room. The fund-raiser for the Guadalupe Schools features 23 local chefs, who provide a buffet dinner. After dinner, the chefs are auctioned to cater private parties and dinners. Log Haven Restaurant in Millcreek Canyon will serve a traditional Easter Sunday brunch on April 20, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Price is $27.95 for the four-course plated meal, and $14.95 for children under 12 years old.
