Salt Lake homicide detectives say they have new information on one of the television show America's Most Wanted's top 10 fugitives.
The information involves the possible real name of a suspect known as Jessi Vega, who is accused of shooting his girlfriend, Trisha Beristain, in November 1998. Salt Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Keith Stephens said investigators now believe Vega's real name might be Jesus Mungia or possibly Arturo Munguia. Stephens said officers aren't sure which name he is using because Vega is an undocumented alien.
On Jan. 3 America's Most Wanted host John Walsh revealed the show's top 10 fugitives and Vega was listed as No. 10. Court documents state that Vega shot Beristain a short way up Big Cottonwood Canyon and left her dead near the roadside.
