I find Jon Huntsman, Jr. to be a lot of political falderal without a lot of substance. At the recent Main Street debate, when asked about Utah's education problems, he replied that he would look first at "efficiencies."
I have been sending children to Utah's public schools for 17 years and have spent a great deal of time in the classroom. If Huntsman did the same he would know that every drop of "efficiency" has been squeezed. I have watched excellent teachers leave the profession because they could no longer teach due to overcrowding in the classroom.
Huntsman would be another elected official who refuses to adequately fund public education. My vote will be going to Scott Matheson Jr., who responded to the same debate question with an unequivocal statement: "I'll put the kids first."
