MONA — Nearly 40 Young Living Essential Oils employees face layoffs in the fields and theme park because of the wet winter, officials say.

Field workers are late preparing the ground because of the wet weather and construction has been halted on a new Medieval village and adult-size western town in the theme park, said Mary Young, wife of founder Gary Young. However, additional field workers may be hired this summer.

Cash earmarked for construction of the new Medieval village and Western town will go to build new offices in Tokyo to help the essential oil company meet demand for its products in Japan, Young said. Young Living's petting zoo and tours through the essential oil distillery and greenhouses will continue to be offered.
