Brenn Hill, a singer/songwriter from Hooper, Weber County, was named the Western Male Vocalist of the Year at this year's Academy of Western Artists Awards program. The ceremony was held July 13 in the Will Rogers Memorial Auditorium in Fort Worth, Tex.
Hill has released five albums and has a lengthening list of music industry awards and nominations to his credit. His most recent CD is "Endangered," which contains songs that speak of life in the modern West.
The Academy of Western Artists, based in Gene Autry, Okla., is "actively involved in the contemporary cowboy heritage movement" and each year gives recognition to those who excel at writing and performing traditional and contemporary Western music and poetry, as well as recognizing artists in other areas of the cowboy and rodeo trade.
Sons of the San Joaquin took home the academy's Entertainer of the Year honors, and Belinda Gail was awarded Western Female Vocalist of the Year.
