1933 — Becomes general merchandise manager for ZCMI.
1936 — Becomes district manager for Montgomery Ward, based in San Diego.
1943-1946 — Serves in World War II as a commander in the U.S. Navy's Supply Corps.
1946-1949 — Regional manager for Montgomery Ward, based in Chicago.
March 4, 1951 — Becomes president of the Palo Alto LDS Stake.

Oct. 13, 2000 — With his wife, Ruby, receives the People of Vision award from Prevent Blindness Utah.
April 3, 2004 — Elder Haight's last extemporaneous address at LDS general conference.
July 31, 2004 — Elder Haight, at 97 the oldest living apostle, dies at his home at 4:15 a.m., with his family present.
