Doyle Taylor Smith 1921 ~ 2005 Doyle Taylor Smith, 84, passed away 2 December 2005 at his home in Heber City, UT. Born in Heber City, 24 October 1921, the son of Earl Henry Smith and Annie Mae Giles. Graduated from Wasatch High School. Married Arlene LaRue Fairbanks 25 November 1942 in Heber City; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple 21 November 1949. Survived by his children, Kenneth Doyle (Sharon), Orem, Kathleen Ken-dall (Roy), Heber, Sherman Ross (Tabatha), Heber, and Brian Earl, Heber. Grandfather of 17, great-grandfather of 32. Also survived by brothers, Jay Buehler (Donna), Casa Grande, AZ, Blaine Smith (LaNeva), Heber; a sister, Gwen Unthank (Ken), Pleasant Grove, UT; sisters-in-law, Glenna and Normalind Smith. Preceded in death by parents; wife; brothers, Earl Jr., Jerry, Don; sisters, Ella Mae, Pauline; and grandson, Ricky. Served as a medic in France with the 8th Armored Battalion, U.S. Army during World War II. Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Held many ward and stake positions. Had a special love for the youth of the church and community. Former member of the Heber Valley Fire Department. Retired after 28 years with Heber Light and Power Company. Enjoyed music. Participated in band and sang tenor with men's quartettes and various choirs and choruses. Spent many hours bowling or playing pool at the Senior Center with his friends. Enjoyed the out-of-doors; in his yard, in his travel trailer, in his fishing boat, on any dirt road in his truck, or merely visiting with family and neighbors on his porch swing. Doyle survived 41 years with cancer. He was a people person and a friend to all ages, and an all-around good guy. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11 a.m. in the Heber Stake Center located at 150 N. 200 W. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the church and Thursday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment at Heber City Cemetery with military honors.
