Christian Slater has filed a petition to end his five-year marriage to television producer Ryan Haddon.
The divorce petition filed Friday in Superior Court cites irreconcilable differences.
"The mutual decision was reached amicably and they remain committed to raising their two young children together," Slater's publicist, Evelyn Karamanos, said in a statement Wednesday. "They ask for the respect of their privacy at this time."
Slater's films include "Windtalkers," "Hard Rain" and "Broken Arrow."

In November 2003, Haddon allegedly hit Slater with a drinking glass in a room at a hotel-casino in Las Vegas and Slater required stitches to close a wound behind the ear, police said.
