RED LAKE, Minn. (AP) — A troubled teen who went on a killing spree at Red Lake High School recently watched a film clearly influenced by the Columbine High School shootings in 1999, according to a friend of the gunman.
Sky Grant, a friend of Jeff Weise, told The Associated Press that Weise brought a copy of the 2003 film "Elephant" to Grant's house March 4, skipping through parts to watch the climactic shootings.
On March 21, Weise gunned down his grandfather and grandfather's companion before driving to school and fatally shooting seven others and himself.
