The Salt Lake City Library System offers a variety of art-related events this spring.
Highlights are:
Community Exploration Cards available — Library card holders can visit some of Salt Lake's best cultural centers for free just by checking out a card from any city library. Forty cards will be available per month; each card entitles the bearer and three guests to general admission at Red Butte Garden, the Utah Museum of Natural History, the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, and The Children's Museum of Utah.
Conduit art exhibit — Running until Thursday, May 26, at the Main Library, 210 E. 400 South.
An exhibit showcasing the work of science fiction and fantasy artists appearing in the annual Conduit Convention Art Show. The exhibit is sponsored by Conduit, Utah's Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention, and features the work of guest of honor and World Fantasy Award winner Charles Vess. Vess and other artists featured in the exhibit will discuss their work at a public reception on Thursday, May 26, from 7-9 p.m.
Recent Works in Fiber by Ivana Oblonsky Thomas art exhibit. Goes until Saturday, May 28, at the Sprague Branch Library, 2131 S. 1100 East.
Storytime: Paintings by Chris Miles art exhibit. Runs until Friday, June 10, at the Main Library, 210 E. 400 South.
Frosty Darling: Paintings by Gentry Blackburn art exhibit. Until Saturday, June 11, at the Main Library, 210 E. 400 South.
Oddments by Melissa Hubbell art exhibit. At the Main Library, 210 E. 400 South, until May 20.
