Summit County deputies are seeking "Neptune" to help figure out who killed John D. Mayo and scattered his body near the Wyoming border.

Neptune is an alias of fugitive Mark Allen Carlson, 33, who is the last person of interest in this case.

Investigators have interviewed everyone they sought regarding Mayo, except Carlson. He's been pretty hard to find, said chief deputy Dave Booth, of the Summit County Sheriff's Office.

As far as investigators can determine, Carlson has never had a direct connection with Mayo, but he may have information that surrounds Mayo's death.

"We would like to talk to him," Booth said.

Anyone who knows of Carlson's whereabouts may contact sheriff's detective Kim Trussell at 435-615-3555.

Carlson is described as a white male, 5 feet 11 inches, 180 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. His head may be shaved.

He is last known to live in Salt Lake City in the 1100 South block of 2475 West.

Carlson, who has no-bail warrant out for his arrest, is considered armed and dangerous with violent tendencies, Booth said, and no one should try to apprehend him.

Carlson spent time in prison for discharging a firearm from a vehicle, drug possession and receiving stolen property. He absconded while on parole, authorities said.
