More details were revealed this past week about the violent stabbing death of a Magna man. But a search warrant turned up no additional evidence or information for investigators.

The body of Jason Royter, 33, was found in a house, 7383 W. Paine Road (3745 South), on Aug. 6 at about 1:30 a.m.

An affidavit for a search warrant filed in 3rd District Court this week said Royter was stabbed multiple times.

"Large amounts of blood (were) spattered throughout the residence, and signs of a furious struggle were present," according to the warrant.

The sheriff's office said there was blood in nearly every room of the house and furniture was overturned everywhere.

There were no signs of forced entry, and the homeowner, who was not present at the time of the slaying, said she believed "the intruder was likely known to the (victim,)" court records state.

The woman also said her adult son "may have direct knowledge regarding" the homicide.

Detectives went that same day to the son's West Valley apartment. One investigator observed, "unusual amounts of blood, or red staining on the door knob and dead-bolt lock of the door to (the man's) apartment and additional staining on the stair rail leading up to the same door. This staining appeared to be fairly fresh and was still a vivid red," according to the warrant.

But Salt Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Paul Jaroscak said Thursday that after conducting tests, the blood found at the apartment was not evidence in the homicide case. He did not know what the circumstances were in regard to the other blood found.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the apartment and seized a .357 magnum revolver, ammunition and nearly 14 ounces of marijuana, according to court documents. Jaroscak said no evidence related to the homicide was recovered.
