Marian Flood 11/03/14 ~ 04/21/06 Marian Flood died on April 21, 2006, after a brief illness. Her final hours were made easier by the loving presence of her granddaughter, Kate Toomey, and Kate's husband, Sean. Marian's son, Robert, was at her side when she died. A long-time resident of Friendship Manor in Salt Lake City, Marian was born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 3, 1914, to Peter and Tillie Verschuur. She had one sister, Bernice Costello, who preceded her in death. Marian also was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Flood, and by her son-in-law, Peter Appleby. Marian is survived by her daughters, Nancy Appleby of Salt Lake City, and Sally Lettecci (Robert) of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; her son, Robert Flood (Elaine) of Keystone, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous friends. Marian's ability to make strangers feel at ease and her sense of humor stayed with her to the end. As her physical presence was diminished by age, the strength of her spirit increased. She loved memories of early years, her life in Utah, her family, music, and the mountains. We will all miss her very much. A memorial service in celebration of Marian's life will be held on Saturday, May 20, at 11 a.m., at The Cathedral Church of St. Mark, 231 East 100 South, Salt Lake City.
