Houston-based Schlumberger announced Wednesday that it has acquired TerraTek Inc., a Salt Lake geomechanics measurements and analysis firm.
Financial details of the transaction were not released.
TerraTek, with 80 people in its Salt Lake office, will become the Geomechanics Laboratory Center of Excellence for Schlumberger Data & Consulting Services. It will offer rock mechanics evaluations, unconventional gas reservoir analysis, large-scale drilling and completions performance testing and log-to-core integration, according to Schlumberger.
