DRIVER SUSPENDED: NASCAR suspended Kevin Grubb indefinitely on Tuesday because he refused to submit to a random drug test following the Busch Series race at Richmond International Speedway. Grubb was suspended in March 2004 for failing a drug test but agreed as part of his reinstatement this June to random testing. But when NASCAR officials approached him after Friday night's Busch race, he twice refused to submit a sample, spokesman Jim Hunter said.

NO DOPING FOUND: All 227 doping tests at the junior world championships in Beijing were negative. The International Association of Athletics Federation said Tuesday that it was the largest drug-testing program at a junior worlds, with 114 blood tests before the competition and 113 controls during the Aug. 15-20 event.

CHINA OPEN:Mario Ancic outlasted Feliciano Lopez 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 Tuesday in Beijing. Other winners included Luka Gregorc, Satoshi Iwabuchi and Michael Berrer.
HEWITT'S IN:Lleyton Hewitt will join Australia's Davis Cup team for its semifinal match against Argentina despite injuries and safety concerns. Hewitt, Australia's most successful Davis Cup player with 38 singles victories, has had on-court clashes with several Argentine players, including David Nalbandian and Juan Ignacio Chela.
BCR OPEN ROMANIA: Carlos Moya beat Luis Horna of Peru on Tuesday to advance to the second round in Bucharest. The third-seeded Spaniard won 6-7 (5), 7-6 (3), 7-5 on clay. Second-seeded Florent Serra of France had a much easier task, moving past Argentina's Juan-Martin Aranguren 6-1, 6-0.
WISMILAK INTERNATIONAL: Defending champion Lindsay Davenport beat Russia's Galina Voskoboeva 7-5, 6-1 Tuesday in her opening match in Bali. In other matches, Russian Olga Poutchkova beat fourth-seeded Ana Ivanovic of Serbia 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, and Hungary's Melinda Czink defeated No. 5 Daniela Hantuchova 7-5, 6-2.

DIPIETRO SIGNS:Rick DiPietro re-signed with the New York Islanders on Tuesday, agreeing to a record 15-year deal that will pay the No. 1 goalie $67.5 million. The Islanders scheduled an afternoon news conference to officially announce the contract that would keep DiPietro in the fold until 2022, when he would be 40.
LUPUL RE-SIGNS: The Edmonton Oilers re-signed winger Joffrey Lupul for a contract worth about $6.9 million over three years. The restricted free agent, who turns 23 next week, was acquired in the Chris Pronger deal with Anaheim earlier this summer.
SABRES SIGN 4: Center Marek Zagrapan, the Buffalo Sabres' first-round draft pick last year, was among four players signed by the team. Also re-signed were three minor-league forwards, Jiri Novotny, Michael Ryan and Chris Thorburn. The Sabres also announced Tuesday that former defenseman James Patrick was hired as an assistant coach.

MORE EUROPE STREAMING: ESPN is expanding its coverage of the European Champions League, streaming all 125 games of this year's tournament on its Internet sites for $9.95 per game. ESPN2 is televising 25 games in the United States during this year's tournament, which began Tuesday. The additional games will be available on ESPNsoccernet.com in the United States and ESPNdeportes.com in the United States and Latin America.
