Wal-Mart Stores will celebrate the grand opening of its supercenter in Syracuse, 2228 W. 1700 South, with a ribbon-cutting event at 7:30 a.m. Monday.

The new 184,212-square-foot store will offer 36 general merchandise depart- ments, including a lawn and garden center, toys, home decor, health and beauty aids, and a full line of electronics. The store also will offer a full line of groceries, a bakery, a delicatessen, a frozen food section and meat, dairy and fresh produce sections. It will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will include 20 full-service and eight express check-out lanes.

As of December 2006, Wal-Mart operated 43 facilities in Utah, including supercenters, discount stores, Sam's Club stores and distribution centers. The company employs more than 15,750 people in Utah.
