Ann Rountree Forsberg

1918 ~ 2007

Ann Rountree Forsberg, a 50 year resident of Greenwich, CT passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.She was born on July 4, 1918 in Jacksonville, Florida. Shortly thereafter her family moved to South Carolina. Later Ann moved to New York City to begin a successful modeling career. In 1938 she joined her sister, Martha Rountree, in the recording, television and radio business. She helped in the creation and production of NBC's initial program, "Meet the Press" and "Leave it to the Girls."

In 1944 she married publisher Franklin S. Forsberg. When Franklin was appointed by President Reagan to be the United States Ambassador to Sweden, Ann moved with her husband to Stockholm and worked tirelessly in a supportive role. After four very active years, they returned to Greenwich where she continued with various volunteer activities.

She had recently returned from Sweden where she presented a book to the Royal Family which had been commissioned by Ambassador and Mrs. Forsberg covering the impressive contributions of the Royal Family to international trade and commerce.

While visiting family and friends in Salt Lake City she suffered heart failure. Recently she had dedicated a Communications Laboratory at the University of Utah in recognition of Franklin Forsberg. Ann was predeceased in 2002 by Franklin, her devoted husband of 58 years.

She is survived by her three children, Kristin Green of Washington, DC, Lars Forsberg of Greenwich and Erik Forsberg of Charleston, South Carolina. She is also survived by five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Stanwich Congregational Church in Greenwich on November 2, 2007. She will be buried with Ambassador Forsberg at Arlington National Cemetery on November 6, 2007.
