TEAM USA WINS: Tennessee fans greeted former nemesis Diana Taurasi with boos when she returned to the Lady Vols' court with the U.S. national team. The former Connecticut standout reminded them just why they dislike her so much. Taurasi had 26 points and seven rebounds to lead the American team to an 83-72 victory over top-ranked Tennessee in an exhibition game on Sunday. Lisa Leslie added 14 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in her third game back for the national team since giving birth in June. Sue Bird had 11 points, and Seimone Augustus added 10 points.

AUTOPSY INCONCLUSIVE: An autopsy of elite runner Ryan Shay was inconclusive Sunday after the 28-year-old collapsed and died in Central Park at the U.S. men's marathon Olympic trials a day earlier. "We want to take a closer look at the heart tissue," said Ellen Borakove, spokeswoman for the city medical examiner's office.

PARIS MASTERS: David Nalbandian beat Rafael Nadal 6-4, 6-0 Sunday to win the Paris Masters and clinch his second straight Masters title after winning in Madrid last month. The Argentine player broke Nadal in the ninth game of the first set and three times in the second. The win means Nalbandian is first alternate for the season-ending Masters Cup in Shanghai, which features the top eight players in the ATP race.
BELL CHALLENGE: At Quebec, Lindsay Davenport won her second title in three events since returning from the birth of her first child, beating third-seeded Julia Vakulenko 6-4, 6-1 on Sunday in the Bell Challenge. Davenport returned in September, winning the Bali Open and reaching the semifinals in the China Open. In the doubles final, Americans Christina Fusano and Raquel Kops-Jones beat Canadian Stephanie Dubois and Czech Renata Voracova 6-2, 7-6 (6).

RATTERMAN DIES: George Ratterman, a former quarterback for Notre Dame and the Cleveland Browns, died Saturday in Centennial, Colo. He was 80. He died of complications from Alzheimer's disease, his son, Matt, said Sunday. He is survived by his wife, Anne, and nine children.

CALZAGHE CHALLENGE: Now that Joe Calzaghe has beaten all comers in the super-middleweight ranks, he is targeting light-heavyweight Bernard Hopkins. "He's got no way out of this," Frank Warren, Calzaghe's promoter, said Sunday after the unbeaten Welshman captured the WBA and WBC super-middleweight belts from Mikkel Kessler of Denmark to go with the WBO title he has held for 10 years. Now he wants to move up seven pounds to the 175-pound division.

MCBRIDE WINS TITLE: Justin McBride won his second PBR world title Sunday, scoring 92.25 points on Camo to finish second in the final round of the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas.
McBride, also the 2005 champion, had one of only three successful rides in the 15-man eighth round before a sellout crowd of 17,739 at Thomas & Mack Center.
