Eleven Utah companies were honored Wednesday for outstanding achievements in manufacturing.
Lt. Gov. Gary Herbert announced the winners of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership's 2006 Manufacturer of the Year Awards at the Capitol.
Winners in the various categories are:
Innovation & Technology Commercialization — Product: Parvus Corp. of Salt Lake City; Autonomous Solutions of Young Ward, Cache County.
Innovation & Technology Commercialization — Process: L-3 Communications Systems CSW of Salt Lake City.
IT Edge: Rocky Mountain ATV of Payson.
Rural Development: S&S Steel Fabrication of Hurricane, Washington County.
Environmental Consciousness: Chevron of Salt Lake City; US Magnesium of Salt Lake City.
Continuous Improvement: Smead Manufacturing of Cedar City.
Marketing & Sales Expansion: Companion Systems of North Salt Lake.
2006 Manufacturer of the Year (companies with fewer than 100 employees): Intermountain Electronics of Price.
2006 Manufacturer of the Year (companies with more than 100 employees): Futura Industries of Clearfield.
The annual recognition encourages manufacturers in Utah to apply innovative, competitive and cost-effective principles to the management of their businesses.
