The Utah Medical Association installed Dr. Mark N. Bair as its new president earlier this month. He accepted the gavel from immediate past-president Dr. C. Kerry Stratford at the UMA's annual House of Delegates Meetings in Midway.

Bair is a board-certified emergency physician who practices at Mountain View Hospital in Payson and lives with his family in Highland. He has served the UMA in other roles, including Speaker of the House and alternate delegate to the American Medical Association. He has also chaired the AMA Young Physician Section and the AMA Resident and Fellow Section. A board member of the Utah Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians, he was voted Utah Emergency Medical Services Physician of the Year in 2004. He attended the University of Utah School of medicine and completed his residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Other officers elected at the annual meeting were Salt Lake City physicians Dr. Cris G. Cowley, president-elect; Dr. Paul W. Winterton, secretary; Dr. Steven K. Miller, AMA delegate; Dr. Brian E. Shiozawa, AMA alternate delegate; and Dr. Robert H. Horne, honorary president.
