Stephenie Meyer, author of the popular Twilight book series, announced on her Web site last week that she will put off working on the final book, "Midnight Sun," indefinitely after an unfinished manuscript was leaked online. "I think it is important for everybody to understand that what happened was a huge violation of my rights as an author, not to mention me as a human being," she writes. "As the author of the Twilight Saga, I control the copyright and it is up to the owner of the copyright to decide when the books should be made public; this is the same for musicians and filmmakers."Meyer writes that she is "too sad" to continue working on the book, and prefers her fans don't read the incomplete version. She did, however, make the draft version available on her Web site so her readers "don't have to feel they have to make a sacrifice to stay honest."Read Meyer's Aug. 28 letter at stepheniemeyer.com.
