STORRS, Conn. (AP) — University of Connecticut officials say students are observing a day of silence to remember football player Jasper Howard, who was stabbed to death on campus over the weekend.

The Black Student Association has asked everyone on campus to wear dark clothing Tuesday to indicate that the university is united in mourning.

Officials say there will also be a candlelight vigil Wednesday night on the Student Union mall.

No one has been charged with Howard's stabbing early Sunday.

A Hartford man is charged with breach of peace and interfering with police, but he's not accused in Howard's death. A lawyer for another man says he expects his client to be arrested soon in connection with the fight, but not the stabbing.
