PROVO — The Provo City Library will hold more than just books on Wednesday. It will be the setting for the 2009 Reed Smoot Awards.

The Provo-Orem Chamber of Commerce will present the awards at 6:30 p.m. in the library's ballroom at Academy Square, 550 N. University Ave. The event costs $35 per person or $280 for a table of eight.

This marks the 21st year the Smoot Awards have been given to individuals and businesses in the Provo and south Utah County. The awards are named after Reed Smoot, a prominent businessman and church leader who lived in Provo in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

The 2009 recipients include:

Outstanding Citizen of the Year — Jane Carlile

Chamber Chairman's Award — Fibernet

Business Beautification Award — Covey Center for the Arts

Community Service Award — Brent Crane, Food & Care Co.

Outstanding Business-Education Partnership — Ron Vigoren, Vigoren and Company

Businesswoman of the Year — Julie Andersen, Corporate Alliance

Business of the Year — Jones Paint & Glass

Entrepreneur of the Year — Sean Collins, Fat Cats & Costa Vida
