In regards to "Jail for Mom Who Beat Daughter (Jan. 16)," two comments: First, no personal comments by Linda Thomson — good decision. Second, Meza-Reyna was convicted in 2008 of committing a serious head injury and multiple bruises to her daughter. She "was convicted in that case of two counts of child abuse, a third-degree felony." Meza-Reyna was "offered a series of services and classes to help her become a better parent" but apparently did not take that suggestion. "The Division of Child and Family Services officially returned the girl to Meza-Reyna in April 2009" — bad decision.
We all know how busy they are — the number of cases each staff person has and on and on — but it was a bad decision they made, and the child will never live a normal life.
