NEW YORK — The MLS Cup is staying a neutral-site championship.

Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber says the league had discussed changing the format to reward the higher-seeded team in the championship with home field advantage.

The league decided to keep the format at a neutral site, though, and plans to announce the site for the 2010 MLS Cup sometime in the next few months.

Garber said Monday the league will continue to assess the idea of home-field sometime in the future.
