LAYTON — Janicki Industries, a Washington-based company that was courted by local and state officials, has signed a lease agreement to be the anchor tenant at the new East Gate development.

Commercial Realtor NAI Utah made the announcement this week. Construction of the new $19.5 million, 100,000-square-foot manufacturing plant and office building at 3835 N. Fairfield Road is expected to take six to seven months.

About 50 people will be employed at the plant, which will be used to mill composite parts for the F-35 joint strike fighter aircraft program. Janicki, based in Sedro-Woolley, Wash., has been awarded contracts for the F-35's development phase since 2002.

Among incentives to land Janicki was a 10-year tax credit incentive of up to $316,275 from the state. The project is expected to result in more than $20.5 million in new state wages over 10 years and more than $1.5 million in new state revenue during that period.

JL Properties Inc.'s East Gate development is in Layton, east and adjacent to Hill Air Force Base. Of the 600 acres of property, more than 90 acres are designated as the East Gate Business Park.
