Kobe Nicholas
Kirk
2003 ~ 2010
My name is Kobe Nicholas Kirk. I am seven years old, son of Nick and Lizz and brother to Anissa and Nikki.I was born February 16, 2003. I was diagnosed when I was six months old with Chronic Granulomatous
Disease (CGD). I love baseball, cars, swimming, video games and everything Toy Story.
After six and a half years of battling CGD I was finally able to have a bone marrow transplant (BMT). My BMT birthday was September 11, 2009. At day +87 it was discovered I had rejected my new marrow. I was blessed with the gift of new donated marrow and had my second BMT on May 8, 2010. At day +23; we learned I had 100% donor cells and I was cured of CGD.
Unfortunately, my frail body could no longer accept this wonderful gift I received. On day +53, after 22 days on a ventilator my body was tired.
I was ready to return to my
Father in Heaven. I have fought so hard for so long with my family by my side, the family I was blessed to be born into and I leave behind my amazingly strong mommy, "my woman", Elizabeth (Dean) Kirk and my friend and rock, my daddy Michael Nicholas Kirk Jr., my sisters, who brought more joy in my life than one person deserves Anissa and Mikala Kirk.
I also leave behind my Grandparents: Ralph and Margie Dean, Wayne and Laura Thebeau, Michael and Jackie Kirk, Paul and Joanne Ren, and Veldean Kirk. My Aunts and Uncles: John and Christal Stevens, Matthew and Sarah Hare, Tracy and Melissa Snow, Ryan Dean, Hannah Kunkes (Taylor), and Sam and Amber Winkler. I also leave behind many cousins and extended family members that loved me.
Thank you to all my family and friends for being there for us throughout my life, a special thank you to the staff at Primary Children's Medical Center.
I left this earth and went home on June 30, 2010.
"I love you forever I like you for always, as long as I am living my baby you will be." Love Mommy
