Theda A Carlile
Johnson
1927 ~ 2010
Born in Charleston, Utah, on April 27, 1927, Theda A Carlile Johnson zestfully embraced life for a full and rewarding 83 years. She died on July 19, 2010.She graduated from Wasatch High School, where she was a cheerleader and editor of the high school paper and yearbook. It was there she met Jay O Johnson, whom she would marry as soon as he returned from World War II.
A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she earned her Golden Gleaner award and served as president of the Young Women's Mutual Improvement Association and the Primary and Relief Society organizations in various wards. She was an expert family history researcher, keeping meticulous and accurate records and for many years was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Theda displayed a fierce love for her children, a love that grew to include anyone who came under her influence. Everyone felt like family. She and Jay loved being parents and grandparents. They yearned many years for the arrival of their first child, Anna, and within the following six years Jeanine, Linda and Kevin were born. Two nephews, Len and Mathew, joined the family and added great joy. When her children married, their spouses were treated as her own children. She was a champion to her grandchildren, and they will always remember the eight-year-old vacations and other outings. She loved music, art, and other beautiful things. Her family will be blessed through the generations by her original paintings.
Theda is preceded in death by her parents, Roe and Pansy (Winterton) Carlile; by her husband, Jay, who preceded her in death by just five weeks; by her son-in-law, Ray Lee; by her brother Harold Carlile and his wife Flossie; and by her brother-in-law, Leland Kippen.
