SOUTH SALT LAKE — The name of a woman shot and killed allegedly by her ex-boyfriend was released by police Monday.

Maria Monserrat Nevarez Tolentino, 36, of South Salt Lake, was shot multiple times in the torso in the parking lot of the Sun River Apartments, 1080 W. 3300 South.

Salvador Landin-Castonon, 29, was arrested in Salt Lake City several hours later.

Landin-Castonon told another person "he had shot his girlfriend, and he hoped she died," according to booking documents from the Salt Lake County Jail.

He was arrested for investigation of murder and a weapons offense.
